Backstory...
The Kindness Code That works two ways! đ
I want to share something powerful and a little unexpected that happened to me recently.
The other day, during my morning meditation, I tried something newâa kindness meditation. Itâs a practice designed to "install" a code of kindness directly into your heart. Itâs hard to explain, but the experience felt profound, like planting a little seed of love that just wanted to grow and radiate outward.
Later that evening, my husband and I went to one of our favorite spots to dance and unwind. As soon as we walked in, people started coming up to me, saying things like, âWow, you look amazing tonight!â or âYouâre just glowing!â
Now, donât get me wrongâcompliments are always nice, but I wasnât exactly feeling fabulous that night. Honestly, I was having a terrible hair day, and my outfit wasnât anything special.
But then it hit me: it wasnât my hair or clothes they were noticing. It was the energy. The kindness meditation had shifted something inside me, and people were feeling it without even realizing it.
But hereâs the other sideâŠ
As the night went on, I noticed something else. Something uncomfortable. I became acutely aware of my own inner thoughtsâspecifically, the unkind ones.
For example, my friend Jill walked by, and I caught myself thinking, Wow, sheâs definitely put on some weight this winter.
Then another friend came up, and while I admired her flawless, creamy skin, I silently wondered, Why on earth would she wear that baggy T-shirt to a party?
Ouch!
The thing is, I probably wouldâve had those same thoughts last week, but I wouldnât have noticed. This time, though, it was like a spotlight was shining on them.
At first, I felt embarrassed. How could I radiate kindness if I was silently criticizing people in my head? But then I realized: this awareness was part of the process.
You canât change what you donât see, right?
This meditation wasnât just about making me more compassionate toward othersâit was also about showing me where I wasnât being kind, even in the privacy of my own mind. And hereâs the beautiful part: when you notice those critical thoughts, you have the power to transform them.
Instead of silently judging Jill, I could send her a silent blessing of love and encouragement. Instead of critiquing my friendâs T-shirt, I could shift my focus to how much I appreciated her warmth and presence.
This practice is a like magic for your own soul!
The kindness code doesnât just make you more radiant to others; it also opens the door to deeper self-awareness and transformation. And trust me, the world can feel the difference.
If this resonates with you, Iâve recorded the kindness meditation I used, and Iâd love for you to try it. Itâs only 10 minutesâthe perfect way to start your day with more love and light.
